University Cooperation : The Board of Directors of EISMV presents its report.

The 53rd ordinary session of the Board of Directors of the Inter-State School of Veterinary Science and Medicine of Dakar came to an end on Friday 25 October 2024 at the Djeuga Palace Hotel in Yaounde. During the closing ceremony, Prof. Jacques FAME NDONGO, Cameroon’s Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, was appointed Chairman of the Council for a one-year term.

The 53rd ordinary session of the Board of Directors of the Inter-State School of Veterinary Science and Medicine (EISMV) of Dakar resulted in 15 decisions, five (5) resolutions, one (1) recommendation and four (4) motions. A happy ending for Professor Jacques FAME NDONGO, Cameroon’s Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, and now Chairman of the Council. At the opening of the session on Thursday 24 October 2024, he expressed the wish that this work should be carried out in the best interests of the Member States, with a view to achieving a result that will make a significant contribution to the development and modernisation of livestock, fisheries and animal health sectors in the said countries and beyond. He also stressed that this objective could only be achieved through the training of competent personnel and multidisciplinary technical experts. In his closing remarks, Prof. Jacques FAME NDONGO outlined the continuing challenges ahead for EISMV. ‘The responsibility that we now have is in line with the challenges arising from globalisation, one of the consequences of which is the standardisation of requirements and, subsequently, the obligation for our schools to meet the resulting competition,’ he added. He also pointed out that digitising teaching was one of the paramount tools. He assured the audience that Cameroon, as a key partner of EISMV, would not fail to play its part in this dynamic.
Wearing his white scarf as Chairman of the EISMV Board of Directors, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, promised to spare no effort to ensure that the dynamism of this establishment, the irreversible option for digitalisation, the reform of syllabuses and the desire to make it the hub of modernity and excellence with the support of all stakeholders. He also expressed his gratitude to his predecessor, Prof. Jean-Laurent SYSSA-MAGALE, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technical Innovation of the CAR, and to Prof. Yalacé YAMBA KABORET, Director General of EISMV in Dakar.
As a reminder, the Inter-State School of Veterinary Science and Medicine of Dakar has trained 1,761 veterinary doctors from 21 African and European countries, after fifty years of existence. Among them are 170 Cameroonians, of whom the most illustrious are Dr Jacques Yves MBELE NDOE, former Minister of Mines, Water Resources and Energy, and Dr TAÏGA, Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries.
